It's an unceremonious end for a car that is mocked as much as it is celebrated.

A decades-long stalwart of the brand's lineup, The 2027 Nissan Altima is on sale now, starting at $27,790. The lineup has been trimmed, and the SV AWD model is gone, leaving three configurations in the midsize sedan's roster.

This is the final year for the Altima, which will go to the great parts bin in the sky.

The well-equipped SV front-wheel-drive opens the range at $27,790 an increase of $210 from the 2026 model year vehicle. From there, the sports-inspired SR FWD lands at $29,190 and the SR AWD at $30,690. Destination and handling adds $1,275 across the board. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is now reserved for the SR grade.

Every Altima carries a 2.5-liter direct-injection four-cylinder rated at 188 horsepower, dropping to 182 hp on AWD models. Front-wheel-drive versions return as much as 26 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway. With AWD, those figures fall to 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

Standard equipment includes Nissan Safety Shield 360, which bundles Blind Spot Warning, Rear Automatic Braking and High Beam Assist, along with what Nissan calls class-exclusive Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. ProPILOT Assist, which manages speed and steering for highway driving, is available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, paired with an 8-inch touchscreen on the SV and a 12.3-inch unit on the SR. Remote Engine Start is standard, and wireless phone charging is optional.

The SR grade adds visual and dynamic upgrades. It rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels and layers in gloss black exterior accents, carbon fiber trim across the center console, and finishers for the sport exhaust. SR models also get paddle shifters, Active Ride Control and Intelligent Trace Control, with sport suspension fitted to FWD versions only.

Nissan continues to highlight the Altima's cabin, citing class-exclusive Zero Gravity seats and front legroom that it says bests both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in base-model comparisons. The trunk measures 15.4 cubic feet, with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat for larger loads.
